I Scream… You Scream…. Who Doesn't Love Ice Cream???

THIS WEEKEND during the GaYbor Daze Extravaganza, take some time to get out of the heat and into a tasty cool treat!  Sunday July 6th, at Lounge 714, join Sister Jackie and The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Tampa Bay Order for our Fabulous Ice Cream Social! 
Delicious flavors will be served with tasty liquor accoutrements such as chocolate, butterscotch, mint liqueurs and more plus a hula-hoop contest, a 50/50 chance drawing and some fun prizes!
The Ice Cream Social kicks off at 1pm and lasts till 4pm, so there will be plenty of time to enjoy all that Gaybor has to offer Sunday evening. Proceeds from this event will benefit Tampa Bay AIDS Network, (TBAN) so you know that while you're treating yourself, you're also helping out a worthwhile cause.

What's the best way to counter-act hatred and homophobia? Rick Astley bitches!!!!!!!! To set up the scene, this group was perched in front of a gay club with megaphones telling everyone going inside they were going to die and burn in hell. I am all for people being allowed to their thoughts and beliefs...ABSOULTELY!!! But these people are verbally violent and instrusive. I agree perhaps my actions fuel the fire to people with preconceived notions about gays. But point blank...it was a harmless fun protest in a potentially volatile situation. And it got the negativity away from the gay club...mission accomplished.
 
 
St Pete PRIDE
 
Hear Ye , Hear Ye St. Pete Pride has now Come & Gone...But Not Forgotten!
The 6th Annual St. Pete Pride had to be their best production & performance with an array of local & national talents ever! The opening acts from the Pride & a Movie, then a Taste of Pride to the infamous Georgie's Alibi Promenade / Street Vender Festival with all the volunteers,  Get Super Kudos!!!  How a small community can put together a Pride event so spectacular as they did needs to receive the national recognition it deserves. We experienced, as many others did also, a rekindling of long distance friends and crazy acquaintances we see but once or twice a year.  After a head count of the appr. 80,000 attendees, it shows that great ideas, with ground roots efforts don't just get an ok but a standing ovation. With the mustering of the co chairs, David Schauer and Suzanne Henry and a fabulous board of directors,the festival shined. And the weather with stood the fierce rains of the days prior. The Krewe of Babylon provided a much needed outside and inside art scene and imaginative experience. Not tailored to a certain group of individuals but to a very large and diverse GLBT community.in the Tampa Bay area. Colorful outfits, great press, a lot of sweat, rainbows everywhere and a good feeling of inner soul shined on this special weekend.

Not all Gay & Pride Around the World
 Extremists throwing rocks, bottles and gasoline bombs attacked the Bulgarian capital's first gay pride parade in Sofia. Police said they prevented the extremists from harming the 150 or so people in the procession through Sofia. No serious injuries were reported.
Officials said they had detained about 60 people for harassing the parade participants. Gays face widespread hostility in Bulgaria, and opposition to Saturday's parade had been fierce. The far-right Bulgarian National Union had called for "open resistance" to the gay pride parade with a campaign featuring posters that say: "Be Intolerant, Be Normal." Bulgaria's influential Orthodox Church said the march should have been banned as it undermines the country's Christian faith.
 
 
Now it is Atlanta's Turn... New Pride Dates July 4th
A new Gay Pride Celebration will take place in Atlanta, Ga this year. Traditionally Pride has presented a series of circuit parties, charity socials, parade and festival events during three days, the third weekend in June, traditionally Pride Weekends around the country. 300,000 partiers attend the annual Pride Event. However,Atlanta's Gay Pride will take place over the 4th of July Weekend this year. It's also a different venue this year,being held at the Atlanta Civic Center. Pride normally takes place in Piedmont Park, but because of the severe drought that has plagued Georgia over the past two years, the city is not permitting large events in Atlanta parks.

After a fun filled weekend at St. Pete Pride there still was one last party! The Super Heroes party "Return to Babylon" hosted by Ye Mystic Crew of Babylon. We must admit ... Yes we did want to take every hero home with us!!!! Porn Star Mathue Rush, Sean Insign & Recco's Men!
